Unit 2 - Photoshop Collages

My collage was inspired by a quote from Roald Dahl’s book, The Twits, which says, “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” To connect back to the quote, I wrote on a piece of paper things that made me happy, or correlated with good thoughts. I lowered the percentage of opaqueness so that the background could still be visible. As for the main background, it’s a picture that I took of a double rainbow. However the second rainbow is very faint, and hard to see. It was a beautiful day, and the sun was shining by the rainbow, which represents the literal term of sunbeams. The rainbow also adds to the beauty and connection to the quote. I also included a picture of a flower that I took as it added a nice colorful touch, and also relates to the term of beauty.

The yellow blob to the right is a painting of sun. I wanted to make it unsymmetrical and painted it using multiple colors to give it more dimension, and this connects back to the literal term of sunbeams. The group of children jumping is a picture taken in Cambodia. This relates back to happiness, as all the children were all excited and jumping for joy. Their happiness definitely radiates, and just looking at the picture makes me happy. I added texture to the picture to make it stand out a little and give a faded touch. Since everything else was colorful, I decided to give the picture of myself a dark filter to pop out, compared to the colorful background. I followed the rule of thirds, and placed the focal points at intersection points in order to bring more focus on to them.
